Urbana boys claim share of CBC/MRD title

Urbana defeated visiting Graham, 64-30, Friday night to claim a share of the CBC/MRD boys basketball title.

UHS led, 35-21, at the half.

For the Hillclimbers, Will Donahoe had 11 points, Jaxen Neff-Strickland had 10 points and Rayvon Rogan added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Indian Lake lost to North Union in OT Friday night, which gave the Hillclimbers and Lakers a co-title with 8-2 MRD records.

It is Urbana’s second straight MRD title.

On Saturday, Rogan scored 21 points as visiting Urbana downed WL-S, 63-43, in non-league action.

UHS led, 37-20, at the half.

For the Tigers (12-10), Matt Jones had 16 points and Taran Logwood and Miles Hostetler each had 8.

For the Hillclimbers (15-7), Donahoe had 13 points and Aiden Bradshaw added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Urbana won the jayvee game, 47-22. For the Tigers, Owen Deere had 10 points and Isaiah Reames added 9.

UHS did not report jayvee stats.

This Saturday, UHS will play Kenton Ridge at 11 a.m. at Springfield High School in the Division II sectional.

WL-S tops NE

WEST LIBERTY – Taran Logwood had 20 points and 12 rebounds as WL-S beat Northeastern, 55-36, in OHC boys basketball Friday night.

The Tigers out-scored the Jets, 30-14, in the second half.

For WL-S, Matt Jones had 12 points and 6 rebounds, Miles Hostetler had 8 points and Carson Poppe added 6 rebounds

Northeastern won the jayvee game, 36-29. For the Tigers, JJ Johnson had 11 points and Isaiah Reames added 8.

On Thursday, WL-S will play Greenon at 7 p.m. at Northmont High School in the Division III sectional.

Indians win

WAYNESFIELD – Mechanicsburg’s boys basketball team won its first game of the season on Saturday, a 77-70 overtime conquest of Waynesfield-Goshen in non-league action.

The Indians trailed, 41-24, at the half and the score was tied, 62-62, at the end of the fourth quarter.

Mechanicsburg (1-21) plays at Columbus Patriot Prep on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Division IV sectional.

Triad falls

MILFORD CENTER – Fairbanks rallied to upend Triad, 42-31, in OHC boys basketball Friday night.

The Cardinals led, 16-14, at the half but were out-scored, 14-0, in the third quarter.

Tyler Perry led Triad with 13 points.

Triad (5-16, 4-12) plays either Russia or Mississinawa Valley on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Piqua in the Division IV sectional.

JH basketball

West Liberty-Salem defeated Fairbanks, 40-17, in the finals of the OHC 7th grade boys tournament.

For the Tigers (18-0), Asher Cole had 11 points and Beckett Sullivan added 10.
