Dale Goddard will serve as the newest township trustee in Mad River Township.

Goddard was appointed during the Oct. 6 meeting to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of former trustee Mike Ward.

Ward announced his resignation during the Sept. 1 township trustee meeting. He had served as a township trustee for 11 years and was most recently re-elected last November. His term was scheduled to end at the end of 2019.

Township trustees also received letters of interest in the vacancy from Bruce Johnson and Brad Zerkle.

Speaking following the Nov. 3 meeting, Goddard said he applied for the position because he felt he would be a good representative of the township.

A lifelong township resident, Goddard said he has worked with the Champaign Soil and Water Conservation District since 1996.

“I think the trustees in the past have done a decent job and I just want to keep it on an even keel,” Goddard said.
