The Urbana Civil Service Commission approved action for the police lieutenant position with the Urbana Police Division on Wednesday.

The commission accepted an eligible list for the lieutenant position with three candidates who successfully completed and passed the testing process for the position.

The list of candidates on the list in order of highest to lowest scores are Josh Jacobs, Chris Snyder and Shawn Schmidt.

The commission also certified the list which Urbana Police Chief Matt Lingrell said would move the selection process into the director’s phase.

Lingrell previously informed the commission that Lt. Seth King will retire from the division on Feb. 3, 2017.
