Teets, fire dept. hosting softball tourney

The North East Champaign County Fire District is holding a “Swing for a Cure” slow-pitch softball tournament, in conjunction with the Teets family, on Aug. 22 at the North Lewisburg community ballpark. The date in a previous story was incorrect due to an error on the part of the tournament organizers.

During the tournament, there will be a food tent, 50/50 drawing, a silent auction and bracelets promoting muscular dystrophy awareness.

All proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, with the goal of sponsoring 3-4 children for camp.

As a child, Andrew Teets attended MDA camp every summer.

Each year, the MDA sends more than 3,600 youngsters to muscular dystrophy accessible camps across the country at no cost to the families.
