Republican primary winner Steven Tornik, D.O., and Independent candidate Kaleb Deam, D.O., will vie to be the next Champaign County Coroner.

Both men’s names will appear on the November ballot.

According to a prepared statement from the board of elections, “The Champaign County Board of Elections voted unanimously to reject on the face of the petition and after investigating the qualifications of a coroner, based on the scope of duties, adding Jeffrey Donay, D.C., CME, to the November 5 General Election ballot.”

Long-serving Coroner Joshua Richards, M.D., is retiring from the office at the end of this year.
