The highly-acclaimed international touring troupe, Celtic Angels Ireland, will be in concert at Urbana’s Gloria Theatre for one night only, Friday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

This will be the first of several 2024 “Stars on Stage” concerts at the historic theatre.

According to the Gloria Theatre’s CEO, Staci Weller: “Based on our early ticket sales, we may have ourselves a sellout crowd. It’s a big deal for the Gloria to finally be able to host such a big, world class show and we’re honored to have them coming to Urbana.”

The evening is billed in Irish as “Crai, Ceol and Traidsiu’n,” meaning fun, music, and tradition … “a glorious evocative Irish journey that has audiences clapping their hands, wiping their tears, and stomping their feet.”

The show includes three groups of performers: the Heavenly Celtic Angels, the Dynamic Celtic Knight Dancers, and the Trinity Ensemble Band, together performing traditional and contemporary Irish music and dance. They are directed and choreographed by Louise Barry of Ireland’s National Theatre, with musical direction by Daniel Thompson of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, along with other award-winning Irish step choreographers and Irish music producers.

One of the Gloria’s volunteers, Mike Hanlin, said: “Last year’s crowds were amazed at how great all of the Stars on Stage concerts were and I think this year’s lineup is even better. The variety is super. Just look at the difference between the Celtic Angels and Radio Gaga, classic Irish versus Queen rock – awesome!”

Weller added: “I was thrilled that we were able to get the Celtic Angels and our next concert, Radio Gaga, because they’re such big shows and they normally play in bigger venues. It’s really great for our community and our region that the Gloria is able to host these wonderful A-List artists!”
