Beth Macy, Urbana native and New York Times best-selling author of Factory Man, Truevine and Dopesick (the inspiration for the Peabody Award-winning Hulu limited series), will join us at the Champaign County Library to discuss her most recent book, Raising Lazarus: Hope, Justice, and the Future of America’s Overdose Crisis.

This program will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. and is free to the public.

Raising Lazarus is a follow-up to Dopesick; however, Raising Lazarus is more hopeful and shines light on ordinary people who are trying to make a difference.

“Through brilliant prose and journalistic genius, Beth Macy once again opens our hearts and takes us inside the battle to end America’s overdose crisis. RAISING LAZARUS is a coming home story for many of us on the frontlines—a masterfully written, well researched, honest, and hopeful account like no other. Macy’s storytelling is unmatched and translates our experiences into a literary masterpiece—offering a prescriptive path forward to curb this national health crisis.” —Ryan Hampton, person in recovery from addiction, national advocate, and author of Unsettled and American Fix.

The Champaign County Library is located at 1060 Scioto Street, Urbana, Ohio. Additional information may be found online at www.champaigncountylibrary.org.
