Indians claim outright OHC North girls title

JAMESTOWN – Mechanicsburg upended Greeneview, 47-20, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

The Indians – outright champions of the OHC North – led 31-10 at the half.

For Mechanicsburg (18-3, 15-1), Addie DeLong had 14 points and Olivia Skillings added 12.

Mechanicsburg won the jayvee game, 42-18. For the Indians, Taylor Heizer had 16 points and Mylee DeLong added 10.

Mechanicsburg hosts Jonathan Alder on Wednesday in non-league action.

Urbana wins

WEST JEFFERSON – Urbana rallied to beat West Jefferson, 52-41, in non-league girls basketball on Saturday.

UHS trailed, 25-22, at the half.

For the Hillclimbers (15-6), Reagan Cotner, Alex Dixon and Lyza Forson each had 14 points. Dixon also added 4 assists. Peyton Mounce had 10 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals and Jenna Weimer added 7 rebounds.

WL-S falls

WEST LIBERTY – Fairbanks defeated WL-S, 44-33, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

For the Tigers (12-10, 10-6), Bailey Poppe had 9 points and Chaley Wade added 8.

WL-S won the jayvee game, 28-19. Ava Johnson had 6 points for the Tigers.

Fairbanks won the 9th grade game, 35-23. Ava Poppe had 6 points for the Tigers.

WL-S plays Dixie this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Covington in the Division III sectional.

Triad loses

NORTH LEWISBURG – Southeastern knocked off Triad, 60-41, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

For Triad (3-18, 2-14), Abbey Overfield had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds and added 3 steals. Emma Ferguson had 7 points and 4 assists and Mia LeMay added 6 rebounds.

Southeastern won the jayvee game, 44-18. For Triad, Gracie Martin had 12 points, Bre Parsons had 6 rebounds and Lilli Fitak added 5 rebounds.

JH basketball

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls defeated Fairbanks, 28-22, in the OHC North championship game on Saturday, capping off a 17-0 season.

For the Tigers, Arianna Weaver had 13 points and Addi Wallen added 8.
