The Champaign County Arts Council is hosting the “Building a Better World LEGO Exhibit” now through July 28 at the Arts Council, 119 Miami St., Urbana.

The exhibit features the work of the OhioLUG (Lego Users Group) and is presented in cooperation with the Champaign County Library, Mechanicsburg Public Library and the St. Paris Public Library.

According to its website (ohiolug.org), the OhioLUG “is a group of adults that have (re)discovered the joy of building creations out of the popular LEGO® brand building blocks.” Founded in 2003 by five Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL), the club was originally called the Central Ohio LEGO Train Club. The non-profit club now has around 35 members from all over Ohio, but mostly the greater Columbus area.

The exhibit features skyscrapers, monuments, stores, homes, restaurants, a concert venue, beach and water scenes, a cemetery, church, playground, gas station, food trucks and much more!

There is no admission charge to any part of the exhibit. Donations are accepted.

Arts Council hours are Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The exhibit will also be open for two special events. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the exhibit will conclude with a showing of the LEGO Batman Movie on Friday, July 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Lego Building Contest Awards will be presented prior to the start of the movie.

This exhibit is sponsored by The Grimes Foundation, with additional funding for the LEGO Batman movie provided by the Friends of the Library.

The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
