ST. PARIS – Graham catcher Mackenzie Smith signed to be the first player for the newly-founded Edison State Community College softball program on Friday.

Smith, a four-year player for the Falcons, hit .286 with a .397 on-base percentage last season after hitting .329 as a sophomore.

Edison State announced the addition of women’s softball to its athletics program in December.

Dan Cain, of Covington, has been named the head coach.

Smith was Cain’s first recruit.
