On Tuesday, 82 students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades presented 54 projects for the Urbana Junior High History Day Competition at Urbana University. This is the third year that Urbana has taken part in this competition. Students choose topics based on an annual theme.

This year’s theme was “Standing Up for Something in History.” Student projects included exhibits, websites, formal papers and performances. Topics included Susan B. Anthony, Jesse Owens and Martha Graham. Twenty students were chosen to represent Urbana at the regional competition in Piqua on Saturday, March 4. Winners from regionals move on to state level competition and possibly national level competition. Urbana Junior High sent two students to the National History Day competition last year.
