PAWS Animal Shelter (dog)

Well, hello, folks, my name is Petey. I’m a very handsome 3-year-old Boxer mix little boy. I am very friendly and I love all my kennel mates here at PAWS. I get along with all you humans, too. I’m kind of a big boy and I have lots of energy to play with my new family. I love kids and would love to have best friend forever. If you would like to make me YOUR best friend, please come and meet me at PAWS Shelter. Please be aware that I can jump over our fence here at the shelter, so you might need a big fence or want to give me some training. I’m a smart guy, so I’ll learn fast! Please come and meet me.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League

“A dog will teach you unconditional love. If you can have that in your life, things won’t be too bad.” – Robert Wagner –

These beautiful lab mixes, Garcia and Gabby, are sisters. After the passing of their owner, which required relocation of the family, the girls were relinquished to Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL). The sisters are nice-sized dogs with Garcia weighing 60 pounds and Gabby at 70 pounds. Both are 5 years old and very sweet with people. We believe they would do best together or perhaps individually with a family with no other dogs. Indications are that they are not house-trained and have lived most of their lives as outside dogs. We believe them to not be trust-worthy with cats.

As with all Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) pets, Garcia and Gabby were completely vetted before being put up for adoption. Both have been spayed, up to date on all vaccinations including rabies, worming, heart-worm testing and treated with heart-worm prevention and a three-month flea prevention. CCAWL adopted dogs are all micro-chipped and have their dental cleaning. If you are interested in visiting Garcia or Gabby or any other of the adoptable pets at CCAWL, please call us at 937-834-5236. We are located at 3858 State Route 56, Mechanicsburg, OH, 43044. Dog and Cat adoption applications can be found online at www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com. You may fax an adoption application to 937-834-5171. A complete listing of our available pets may be found at www.petfinder.com and www.adoptapet.com.

CCAWL is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of the pets of Champaign County. We always appreciate your donations and all donations are tax deductible. We are currently in need of Bleach, Dawn Dish Soap, Laundry Detergent, Milk Bone Dog Biscuits and Cat/Kitten Toys.

During the holiday season is the time when you should monitor very carefully the food that your dog may try to eat. Turkey bones are especially dangerous to dogs as well as many of the spices used in holiday cooking.

If you are looking to support CCAWL by volunteering, we would love to meet you. Applications may be picked up at our location. We also require proof of a current tetanus shot to accompany the completed application.

Please check us out on Facebook for a sneak peek of our newest residents.

In order to allow friends and staff to enjoy Thanksgiving with their families, Champaign County Animal Welfare League will be closed November 24 through November 27.

Barely Used Pets

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am about 1-1/2 years old. I am a Beagle mix girl who came to Barely Used Pets through a dog warden from another county. I was in heat (not at all sure why everybody was so concerned about me). My family was afraid I was going to have puppies. That was nowhere on my agenda. They gave me to the dog warden and she contacted Barely Used Pets. Well, now I am spayed and everybody has calmed down. But listen…I am a little timid around strangers. I love to go out and play with Buster Beagle and I promise to be the best companion beagle girl you ever, ever had! Guess what I am house trained and they say that is a great thing. No puppies coming and house trained…I’m thinking I am exactly what you need. And not to be selfish, but maybe you are exactly what I need…because you see, I only want somebody to love me, keep me safe and warm, and a little food in my belly. A soft blanket to nap on would be so nice. I don’t take up much space at all and I promise to be the bestest listener so you can tell me everything and just like in Vegas, it will stay with me. Please come and take me home and let’s take some long naps together!

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). Barely Used Pets is located at 844 Jackson Hill Road in Urbana, Ohio. You can give us a call at 937-869-8090. We are open Sunday 1-4pm, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11am-6pm and Saturday 11am-2pm. We are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We need Clorox the most right now if you can drop off a couple of gallons for us! We need Lysol Lemon spray cleaner, paper towels, Dawn dish soap (original), and laundry soap. We can also use the elevated pet beds by Kuranda (go to kuranda.com). Any donations are always appreciated. Please take a look at our website for other ideas for donations.

Thanks so much for considering me and helping Barely Used Pets help all of us little ones find our forever homes! OK…so what are you waiting for? Let’s go home!

Easy-going, lap-cat Hilda greets everyone at PAWS Animal Shelter. While she likes to lounge, she also likes to play with toys. Have room for one more at your place?

Garcia and Gabby, Lab-mix sisters, would love to be adopted together, but could go to separate homes, preferably without other dogs. They evidently have lived outdoors all their lives. Now that their owner has died, they are living for the time being at the Champaign County Animal Welfare League

Young Sarah, a Beagle mix, arrived at Barely Used pets via a dog warden in another county. Spayed and house-trained, she’s waiting for that special someone to walk through the door.
