‘Prime Time Christmas’ at Gloria

How would today’s 21st century TV media have covered the first Christmas 2,000+ years ago? That’s the story of Prime Time Christmas, an original musical comedy coming to Urbana’s Gloria Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 3. The program, produced by Cornerstone Baptist Church of Springfield, uses a cast and crew of 70 people to parody more than 20 TV shows past and present, with a few surprise digital cameos from broadcast personalities thrown in. From newscasts to sportscasts, from the morning show to the late show, from dramas to reality television: What might the Christmas story have looked like to an imaginary channel-surfer a couple of millennia ago? Audience members of all ages are sure to find the answers to that question both hilarious and entertaining.

Prime Time Christmas will be presented twice on Dec. 3, with show times at 2 and 6 p.m. Gloria Theatre is located at 216 S. Main St. in downtown Urbana. The family-friendly program is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. For more information about Prime Time Christmas, search the show’s official hashtag on social media or visit www.PrimeTimeChristmas.com.
