PAWS Animal Shelter (dog)

Meet Reece, a female Pug/Beagle who is with us here at PAWS. She is an adult spayed girl who needs a home. She is very shy and hesitant until she feels comfortable with her surroundings and her human. Then she is all over you with kisses and love. She is a bit on the pudgy side and could stand to lose a few pounds to make her more active. She likes to sit in the kennel yard in the sun and take in the scenery. Please come and meet her.

All of our dogs are looking for a loving home where they can be taken care of for the rest of their lives.

PAWS Animal Shelter (cat)

There is something purr-fectly adorable about tiger cats. Giselle is a beauty! Many think that tiger cats all look the same. When you take a closer look you can see a variety of interesting patterns and different colors. Tiger cats are truly works of art and make wonderful pets. Giselle and her pal, Katiness, are cute tiger girls looking for forever homes. These two quiet gals like to sit on your lap or just hang out with you. They would love to come home with you and be your new best friends. They are up to date on their shots and spayed. They have been wormed and they tested negative for feline leukemia. Both are litter box trained and very neat girls. Consider adopting two cats for double the fun!

Stop by Paws Animal Shelter, 1535 W. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, or call the shelter at 937-653-6233. The Shelter hours are Tuesday-Friday 12-5 p.m., Saturday 12-4 p.m., Sunday and Monday-closed. You can email us at [email protected]. Visit us at www.facebook.com/paws.urbana. There are many wonderful cats, adorable kittens and fun-loving dogs at the shelter waiting for good homes. Paws Animal Shelter needs donations of Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Complete Cat Chow, Purina Dog Chow and Purina Puppy Chow. We also could use donations of bleach, laundry detergent and clumping cat litter. We are a nonprofit organization that operates only by donations. We do not receive any city, county or state funding. We depend on public donations and our adoption fees to run the shelter. Please consider making a donation to help fund our shelter. We are always looking for volunteers to come to the shelter and help out. You could play with the cats or dogs to help socialize them.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League

“Dogs do speak but only to those who know how to listen” – Orhan Pamuk – Our little Buddy has plenty to say to those who will listen. Buddy is a 5.3-pound Chihuahua relinquished to Champaign County Animal Welfare League because of his owner’s ill health. He is house-trained and good with other dogs, adults and polite children. Buddy, at just 4 years old, is a happy, little soul who thrives on love and attention and will make a welcome addition to any lap. Does your lap qualify for Buddy?

As with all Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) pets, Buddy was completely vetted before being put up for adoption. Buddy has been neutered, up to date on all vaccinations including rabies, worming, heart-worm testing and treated with heart-worm prevention and a three-month flea prevention. CCAWL adopted dogs are all micro-chipped and have their 2016 dog license and dental cleaning. If you are interested in visiting Buddy or any other of the adoptable pets at CCAWL, please call us at 937-834-5236. We are located at 3858 State Route 56, Mechanicsburg, OH, 43044. Dog and Cat adoption applications can be found online at www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com. You may fax an adoption application to 937-834-5171. A complete listing of our available pets may be found at www.petfinder.com and www.adoptapet.com.

CCAWL is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of the pets of Champaign County. We always appreciate your donations of bleach, paper towels, collars, leashes, Clorox wipes and Lysol concentrated cleaner. We are currently in need of Q-tips, laundry detergent and dryer sheets.

If you are looking to support CCAWL by volunteering, we would love to meet you. Applications may be picked up at our location. We also require proof of a current tetanus shot to accompany the completed application.

Please check us out on Facebook for a sneak peek of our newest residents.

Barely Used Pets

Hi! I’m Katie and I came here with my friend, Sadie. I am a Lab girl and I weigh about 150 pounds and I’m 5-1/2 years old. My friend Sadie is a Lab/Hound mix girl and she only weighs about 120 pounds. She is 4-1/2 years old. It has been a tough road for us. Our person was having lots of problems and was reported for not taking care of us. When the authorities came back the 2nd time, they found our person dead and we were just walking around, not knowing what to do. We just need a good home where we can be safe and loved. Barely Used Pets keeps us together and we are so happy. It makes sleeping at night so much easier, because you see…we’re all we have…I mean each other. When things were bad we had each other to lean on and to hold onto. Won’t you please open your heart and help us get a new start? We are good girls that came from a bad place. We just need a chance for happiness and we really, really want to stay together. They are taking really good care of us, but what we really need is a family of our own. We are two big beautiful girls and we promise with all of our hearts to be the best girls you ever had. We just need a loving family and a couple of soft beds to nap in. Please come and see us. We will love you more than you will ever know.

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). Barely Used Pets is located at 844 Jackson Hill Road in Urbana, Ohio. You can give us a call at 937-869-8090. We are open Sunday 1-4pm, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11am-6pm and Saturday 11am-2pm. We are CLOSED on Monday and Tuesday. We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We need Clorox the most right now if you can drop off a couple of gallons for us! We need Lysol Lemon spray cleaner, paper towels, Dawn dish soap (original), and laundry soap. We can also use the elevated pet beds by Kuranda (go to kuranda.com). Any donations are always appreciated. Please take a look at our website for other ideas for donations.

Thanks so much for considering us and helping Barely Used Pets help all of us little ones find our forever homes.

Separated from his owner due to the owner’s ill health, little Buddy now is at the Champaign County Animal Welfare League, where volunteers can tell he thrives on love and is anxious for that special someone to walk through the door and adopt him.

Katie, shown here, and her pal Sadie, both Labs, were found wandering inside a home after their person died. They’ve adjusted to the love and attention they get at Barely Used Pets, but are now ready for new people and a forever home.
