WL-S golf team advances to district tourney

West Liberty-Salem placed second with a team score of 362 in the boys golf sectional played at Reid Park North.

For the Tigers, who advances to next week’s district tournament, Dillon Callicoat shot an 80 and finished 3rd overall, Max Eggleston had an 87 and finished 10th overall, Kannon Stillings had a 91, Michael Frederick a 104 and Logan Brown a 108.

“We are really pleased to be moving on to the district tournament,” said WL-S Coach Darrin Leichty. “The course was set up as difficult as any we have seen this year and for the most part we handled it well. We got off to a good start on the first nine, but scoring became much more difficult on our back nine. We have a little over a week to prepare for a new district site that we have never played.”

Linscott advances

Triad’s Macy Linscott shot a 90 to place third in the sectional on Wednesday and advance as an individual to the girls golf district tourney next week.

Triad placed 5th as a team at the sectional with a 431.

Besides Linscott’s 90, Kayleigh Boldman had a 107, Jess Woodard a 111 and Kallie Smith a 123.

Linscott will play in the district next week at Pipestone Golf Course.

Tigers fall in soccer

The WL-S boys soccer team was defeated by Springfield Catholic Central, 3-1, in OHC action. Ethan Cole scored the Tigers’ goal from a Bishop Williamson assist to bring the halftime score to 2-1. SCC scored its final goal with 2 minutes left.

Gavin Harrison had 3 saves in goal for the Tigers (6-4-1).

JH cross country

The Urbana junior high girls team placed 2nd at the Triad Invite.

Jenny Zaborowski had a season PR of 16:29

For the junior high boys, Camden Weiss PR’d in a time of 16:21 and Justin Rutan ran a 16:32 for a season PR.

JH volleyball

The Graham 7th graders beat Bellefontaine, 27-25, 25-19

The Graham 8th graders won 25-7, 16-25, 26-24.
