Shady Bowl hosts Lewis Memorial

DeGRAFF – Shady Bowl Speedway will feature the modifieds as racing resumes Saturday night.

The annual Bill Lewis 40-lap feature for the open-wheelers is scheduled.

Lewis, a long-time car owner/builder, had the top drivers in the tri-state area behind the wheel of his racers. Perhaps the best known was Dayton’s Lee Raymond, who went on to become a two-time ARCA Super Car Series champion.

Springfield’s Chad Poole is expected to be on hand to try and repeat his win of last week.

The late models will also be on the racing card with Urbana’s Mike Ward going for career win No. 50. The former track champion picked up win No. 49 last week. Street stocks, pure stocks and tuners will also be in action. Racing is set to start at 7 p.m.

The following Saturday, the fasest race cars of the season will tackle Shady Bowl. The Must See Extreme Sprint series winged sprint cars will be on hand. These cars are expected to tour the oval in the 10-second range.
