SPRINGFIELD – The CBC boys tennis tournament was held Thursday at Northwestern, and Urbana ended up placing second, two points behind Tecumseh.
Urbana was leading the CBC coming into the tournament with Tecumseh in second place.
After all points were counted, Tecumseh was declared the 2016 CBC champ – by one point over Urbana.
In second singles, Urbana’s Andrew Fansler was second.
At third singles, UHS’s Langston Kitchen was first.
At first doubles, Urbana’s Nick Shank/Greg Coffey placed first.
At second doubles, UHS’s Wes Brown/Bailey Ullah placed third.
UHS baseball prevails
Urbana defeated Stebbins 7-3 in CBC non-divisional baseball on Thursday.
Seth Mangus was 2 for 3 with a double 2 RBI, Kaleb Bowdle was 2 for 3 with a double, Caleb Peterson had 2 RBI and Dillon Watkins and Tyler Weekley each knocked in a run.
On Wednesday, Benjamin Logan defeated Urbana 5-2 in CBC/MRD baseball.
In that game, Trenton Dunham was 2 for 3, Logan Rooney was 1 for 2 and Skyler Reisinger and Dillon Watkins each went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Cardinals win
Triad beat Riverside 10-6 in OHC baseball on Thursday.
Dalton Holycross was 2 for 4, Shane Ford was 2 for 2, Trent McIntyre had 3 RBI, Trevor Instine was 4 for 5 with 4 RBI, Tim Marsalis was 2 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI and Shem Pond was 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored.
Triad defeated Cedarville 12-1 in OHC baseball on Wednesday.
Shane Ford had a double and 2 RBI and struck out 7 batters from the mound. Trent McIntyre was 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI, Tim Marsalis had 2 RBI and Alec Ober was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI.
Triad (18-7) hosts Benjamin Logan on Friday.
Falcon baseball loses
Kenton Ridge beat Graham 10-0 in five innings of CBC non-divisional baseball Thursday.
The Cougars got a no-hitter out of Bailey Armentrout.
Graham goes to 7-17-1 with the loss.
Falcon softball falls
Northeastern beat Graham 18-13 in non-league softball Wednesday.
Allie Neeld was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI, Morgan Rush was 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI, Melany Robbins was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and Alyssa Theodor was 2 for 3 with a 2-run homer. Mallory Roberts took the loss.
WL-S jayvees lose
The West Liberty-Salem jayvee softball team lost to Troy, 15-2. Laura Neer suffered the loss. Erica McCall had 2 hits and Abby Dillon added a hit for WL-S.
