Triad tops M’burg in softball

Triad defeated Mechanicsburg, 7-2, in OHC softball on Thursday.

For Triad, Abby Ehrenborg was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Jenna Ober was 2 for 4, Ali Dixon was 2 for 4 and Brianna Eaton was 2 for 4.

For MHS, Allie Raber had a double and 2 RBI and Meagan Hux had a double.

Triad (10-4, 6-2 OHC) plays in Ashland on Friday and Saturday. Mechanicsburg (7-4) hosts Urbana on Friday.

Falcons top Tipp

Graham beat Tippecanoe, 9-4, in CBC softball on Thursday.

Madison Bryant got the win and helped her own cause, going 4 for 4 with a pair of home runs and 4 RBI. Mallory Roberts was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Mackenzie Smith was 2 for 3 and Marley Brandyberry was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Graham hosts Benjamin Logan on Monday.

Jayvee Tigers win

West Liberty-Salem defeated Greeneview 13-3 in five innings of jayvee softball on Wednesday.

Laura Neer, Erica McCall and Olivia Milliron each had 3 hits. Maddie Estes and Tory Cordell doubled.

Junior high track

The WL-S junior high girls won the Champaign County track meet on Thursday.

Winning events were Gracie Serna (shot put, discus), Savannah Weaver (high jump), Camrin Rice (long jump, 100H), Megan Dillon (pole vault), Alex Burton (100, 200), Kaitlyn Stapleton (1,600, 800), Payton Umphries (400), Grace Estes (200H), the 4×100 relay team of Camrin Rice, Julia Ames, Caidryn Wade and Alex Burton, the 4×200 team, and the 4×400 team.

The girls also won a five-team meet at Urbana on Tuesday.

Winning events for the Tigers were Camrin Rice (200H), Katelyn Stapleton (200), Alex Burton (400, 100), Payton Umphries (800), Grace Adams (1,600), Gracie Estes (100H), Savannah Weaver (high jump), Caidryn Wade (long jump), Lydia Moell (pole vault), Gracie Serna (discus), the 4×100 relay of Camrin Rice, Caidryn Wade, Julia Ames and Alex Burton, the 4×200 team of Megan Dillon, Lydia Moell, Sophie Cole and Gracie Estes and the 4×400 team of Payton Umphries, Grace Adams, Selina Weaver and Katelyn Stapleton.

The WL-S junior high boys won the Champaign County meet on Thursday.

Winning events for the Tigers were Johnny Buchenroth (high jump), Trenton Douthwaite (pole vault), Ethan Cole (110H, 200H), Ian Wolfe (100, 200), Nick Burden (1,600), Ethan Larson (400), Noah Smith (800), the 4×200 team of Jace Wade, Levi Chapman, Cooper Havens and Isaiah McGill and the 4×400 team of Nick Burden, Ethan Cole, Ethan Larson and Ian Wolfe.

Also winning were Erick Deere (MHS, shot), Austin Fisher (UHS, discus), Keith Bebout (MHS, long jump) and the UHS 4×100 team.

The WL-S boys also won the five-team meet at Urbana on Tuesday.

First-place finishers were Noah Smith (1,600), Nick Burden (800), Trenton Douthwaite (pole vault) and Michael Farquarson (shot put).
