WL-S girls win Graham Invite


ST. PARIS – West Liberty-Salem won the girls’ portion of the Graham Invitational on Friday. Graham was 8th, Mechanicsburg was 10th, Triad was 11th and Urbana was 13th.

Winning events were the WL-S 4×200 team, Caylee Karg (WL-S, 300H), Reghan Bieleski (WL-S, 800) and the WL-S 4×400 team.

Earning second were the WL-S 4×800 team, Reghan Bieleski (WL-S, 1,600), Emily Wilson (MHS, long jump), Hannah Walls (THS, shot put) and Janie Kopus (WL-S, pole vault).

Taking third were Caylee Karg (WL-S, 100H), Janie Kopus (WL-S, 400), Morgan Freyhof (WL-S, 200), Natalie Seeberg (UHS, discus) and Aubry Gale (GHS, pole vault).

On the boys’ side, Mechanicsburg was 3rd, West Liberty-Salem was 11th, Urbana was 12th, Graham was 14th and Triad was 16th.

Winning events were Joey Adams (WL-S, 1,600, 3,200), David Harvey (MHS, high jump, long jump) and Phil Cook (MHS, pole vault).

Taking second was Mechanicsburg’s 4×200 team.

Earning third were Bryce Waring (MHS, 100), Urbana’s 4×100 team, Jared Butcher (MHS, high jump) and Josh McManaway (THS, discus).

Junior high track

The WL-S junior high girls won the Ben Logan Invitational Thursday night. The Tigers broke two meet records with relays, and two other individual school records – one of them also a meet record.

The 4×100 relay broke the meet record with a time of 54.31. That relay was composed of Camrin Rice, Caidryn Wade, Julia Ames and Alex Burton.

The 4×200 also broke the meet record with a time of 1:56.82, consisting of Megan Dillon, Lydia Moell, Sophie Cole and Gracie Estes.

Alex Burton broke the 100-meter meet record, setting a school record as well. Her time was 12.98. Gracie Estes in a second place finish broke the school record in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 30.77.

Other firsts for the Tigers were Gracie Serna in shot put (32-9) and discus (87-11), Camrin Rice in long jump (13-4), Kate Stapleton in the 800 meters (2:36), Maddie Bahan in the 1,600 (5:49) and the 4×400 relay of Payton Umphries, Kaitlyn Michael, Selena Weaver and Kate Stapleton (4:37).
