The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team fell in its home opener, 23-2, against Findlay Wednesday afternoon at UU Stadium.

Midfielder Chanelle Bondurant put UU on the board 10 minutes into the second half, but the visiting Oilers had already seized control of the contest by that point. Bondurant’s goal was her team-leading third of the season.

Taylor Henderson found the back of the net later on in the second half to give UU its second goal of the day. It was Henderson’s second goal of the year

UU (0-2) went down 17-0 at halftime after struggling to maintain possession against the Oilers. The Blue Knights totaled seven shots during the matchup and 11 ground balls.

UU goalie Paige Waqa registered nine saves in net against a strong Oiler attack.

Findlay (2-1) was led by Sarah Lankton’s four goals.

The Blue Knights continue a three-game homestand with a Friday matchup with Alderson Broaddus. Start time at UU Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
