Members of Paragon Studios, a local baton twirling group, competed in Grafton at a competition sponsored by the Northern Ohio Baton Twirling Association. The studio brought home four wins in the team competition. Winners of the Beginner Tiny Tot Small Dance Twirl Team and Intermediate Tiny Tot Small Dance Twirl Team include Phoebe West, Madaileyn Miesse, Bella Huffman and Bella Miller. Winners of the Advanced Primary Small Dance Twirl Team are Elaei Brown, Aubre Eggleston, Layla West, Sevonei Brown and Jessica Rooney. Winners of the Advanced Junior Small Dance Twirl Team include Jocelyn Holtsberry, Cori Kent, Telanei Brown, Sevonei Brown and Kiki Zizzo.
Individual competitors included Phoebe West, age 5, who received a first place, two second places and three third place finishes. Bella Huffman, age 6, brought home two fourth place awards. Aubre Eggleston, age 8, received two second place awards. Jocelyn Holtsberry, age 13, brought home a second place and two third place finishes. Elaei Brown, age 6, received two first place wins. Sevonei Brown, age 10, and Telanei Brown, age 13, each brought home a first place win. Jessica Rooney, age 10, won five first place, three second place and two third place finishes. Cori Kent, age 14, received three first place wins, two second place and a third place finish. Layla West, age 7, brought home seven first place wins. Kiki Zizzo, age 16, received a first place, two second place and a third place award.
A solo twirl off was held at the end of the day in which three Paragon twirlers qualified to compete. Layla West and Cori Kent both competed in the intermediate twirl off and Kiki Zizzo competed in the beginner twirl off. Zizzo was named the Beginner Solo Twirl Off Champion.
All members of Paragon Studios live in Champaign and Clark counties. They are coached by Holli Brown, of Urbana.
