West Liberty-Salem’s Jamie Peterson has been named first-team All-Ohio in Division III girls basketball.

The senior averaged 15.4 points per game while leading the Tigers to the regional semifinals, where the team ended its season with a 46-37 loss to Versailles.

“Just from how she’s grown from her freshman year to now has just been unbelievable,” WL-S Coach Dennis McIntosh said. “I wasn’t even sure how great of a basketball player she was going to be, but she really put a lot of time into it. Even with her volleyball, she put time into her basketball and made herself better.”

Peterson will be attending the University of Dayton in the fall and earned a volleyball scholarship from the Flyers.

Peterson was also recently selected to play in the North-South All-Star Classic on April 23. That game is scheduled to be played at Denison University with tip-off at 2 p.m.

WL-S awards

The high school girls basketball awards banquet for West Liberty-Salem will be held Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium. Pizza, drinks and desserts will be provided. Anyone attending needs to RSVP to Coach Dennis McIntosh by March 13. Athletes must be in attendance to receive their awards.
