WEST LIBERTY – The West Liberty United Methodist Church is being joined by other area churches to hold a Benefit Dinner on Saturday, March 5, for April and Julio Rodriguez and their two children.
April Rodriguez, 33, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer on Jan. 11, with spots on her liver and an enlarged kidney due to pressure from the lung tumor. She is the daughter of Becky (Linebaugh) Napier of Rushsylvania and Alan Napier of Bellefontaine.
Her husband, Julio, 39, is originally from Mexico and has been a permanent resident of Ohio since 2000. Their two children attend Ben Logan Schools. Liliana is 11 and Edrian is 6. The family lost a third child at 6 months old due to Digeorge disease and a congenital heart problem. The family lives in West Mansfield.
Mrs. Rodriguez is an LPN and was employed at Green Hills for six years and at Marysville Pediatrics starting last November. Mr. Rodriguez is currently at home because of the illness of his wife, who has started chemotherapy at the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University Hospital. Her medical insurance had not gone into effect when she became ill.
The dinner will be held 4-7:30 p.m. March 5 at the United Methodist Church in West Liberty. The meal will consist of chicken or beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, roll, pie or cake and drink for a donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10.
Those unable to attend but who wish to assist the family can send a check made out to the West Liberty United Methodist Church and with “Rodriguez benefit” in the memo line. Mail donations to West Liberty United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 606, West Liberty, OH 43357. For more information, contact Nancy Dowden at 937-475-4219.
