Indian Lake’s back to-back CBC Football Defensive Player of the Year will defend the field at Urbana University next fall.

Indian Lake senior Joey Davidson officially signed to play football for the Blue Knights, surrounded by his family and coaches.

The Second Team All State Division IV linebacker says he wanted to stay close to home.

“I just love the small-type community and school that they have with very small class sizes. And, I just love the youth of their coaches and the enthusiasm that they have. I feel like I’ll be a really good fit there. “

Davidson will play for Urbana Head Coach Tyler Haines. Meantime, Indian Lake Head Football Coach Dave Coburn says Davidson’s willingness to put his team ahead of himself helped lead the Lakers to their first ever CBC Mad River Division Championship and appearance in a state playoff game.

“We’re just so very excited for Joey to make this step to the next level. I feel very confident that Urbana is getting not only a quality player, but more so, a quality individual, “ Coach Coburn remarked.

Besides leading the Laker defense, Davidson is a 4.0 student. With a combination of academic and athletics scholarships, he will receive full tuition.
