Micah Jordan, a redshirt freshman on the Ohio State wrestling team, has been selected as the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Jordan, a four-time state champion at Graham High School, won the 141-pound weight class as the fifth seed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational last weekend, knocking off two ranked opponents in the process. In the semifinals, he earned a 5-2 decision over top-seeded and eighth-ranked Solomon Chishkov and then followed that up with a 7-3 victory against third-seeded and 13th-ranked Todd Preston of Harvard.

Thanks to his big weekend, Jordan rose eight spots in this week’s InterMat 141-pound rankings, up from No. 16 to No. 8. In Flowrestling’s rankings, he is No. 7 (up from No. 20 last week).

At 12-0, Jordan is one of five Buckeye starters who are still undefeated this year. Just as impressively, eight of his 12 wins have come by either major decision, technical fall or fall. His efforts in Las Vegas helped Ohio State finish fifth overall, as the Buckeyes had two champions (Jordan and top-ranked Nathan Tomasello at 125 pounds) and two fifth-placers (Kenny Courts, 184; Nick Tavanello, 285).

Jordan and the third-ranked Buckeyes are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Columbia, Mo., to face No. 8 Missouri at 8 p.m. EST (7 p.m. CST).
