Urbana City Schools and its food service provider, Sodexo, hosted a luncheon for veterans in all school buildings Thursday, Nov. 12.
Each year, the district chooses to host veterans on the day after Veterans Day, so that it doesn’t conflict with other programs and memorials that take place on Nov. 11.
A total of 179 veterans joined students in the district for lunch, music and memorabilia. This is the sixth year that Sodexo and Urbana schools have hosted veterans. Students and staff are honored to spend time with those who have served to protect the country.
