A two-vehicle fatal crash involving a North Lewisburg resident is under investigation by the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

James H. Long Jr., 20, of North Lewisburg, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in Perry Township at 12:19 a.m. Sunday on state Route 292 near mile post 9.

According to the Marysville post, a gray 2008 Honda Pilot driven by Edward K. Marland, 50, of East Liberty, was traveling northbound on state Route 292. Marland’s vehicle struck a southbound motorcyclist head-on when his vehicle traveled left of center.

Long, who was operating the motorcycle, was stopped in the southbound lane of state Route 292 at a posted stop sign at County Road 12. After striking Long’s motorcycle, Marland’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the road then back onto state Route 292. Marland was not injured in the crash.

Long was ejected from his vehicle and the motorcycle traveled off the left side of the road and into a grassy area. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Perry Township Fire and EMS, Bokes Creek Township Fire and EMS and the Logan County Coroner’s Office.

The Marysville post stated alcohol is considered to be a contributing factor of this crash.
