UHS boys win MRD soccer title

The Urbana boys soccer team defeated Greenon, 3-0, to win its first-ever CBC championship in the Mad River Division.

After a slow first half, the Hillclimbers put together a strong second half scoring 3 goals. Mklaine Eggleston had two goals and Makay LeMieux had one. Cooper Johnson had two assists and Trevor Adams had one.

The Hillclimbers are now 9-4-2 on the season and 6-2-2 in the conference.

UHS girls soccer wins

Urbana defeated Dunbar, 8-1, in non-league girls soccer on Monday.

UHS’s first-half goals were by Jennifer Tracy assisted by Madisyn Horn at 39:07; by Cassie James at 38:05; by Horn at 32:52; by Sara Lingrell at 14:49; by Taje Mack assisted by Horn at 9:01 and by Breanna Titus assisted by Kinleigh White at 2:50.

Urbana’s second-half goals were by Horn assisted by James and Tracy at 30:28 and by Emma Burnside.

“It was a great team victory and momentum to go into tournament,” said UHS Coach Brandon Deskins.

UHS wins in volleyball

Urbana defeated Indian Lake, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20, in CBC/MRD volleyball on Monday.

For the Hillclimbers, Hunter Rogan had 11 kills, Mckenzee Martin had 7 kills, Natalie Seeberg had 5 kills, Olivia Dunham had 14 assists and 4 kills, Macy Pierce had 13 assists and 4 kills, Karsen Voorhees had 7 digs and Katy Curnutte added 8 digs.

Indian Lake won the jayvee game, 25-19, 25-18.

Urbana’s varsity team (9-12, 5-4) will host Benjamin Logan Thursday.

Triad jayvees fall

Triad’s jayvee volleyball team lost, 25-23, 25-17. For Triad (9-7, 9-4), Kaitlynn Pence had 4 kills, Kristin Bailey had 8 digs, Kayleigh Rice had 8 digs, Kiki Zizzo had 2 aces and Jennifer Sizemore had 9 points.

Junior high volleyball

The WL-S 7th graders won their first tournament game against Miami View, 25-20, 25-17. Olivia Muirhead had 9 aces, Selena Weaver added 3 good receives and two kills and Maddie Hutton had 4 aces.

The team plays at Springfield Catholic Central on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The WL-S 8th graders also won their tournament game against Cedarville, 25-18, 25-18. Alex Burton had 6 good serve receives and 5 kills, Kennah Erwin added 5 aces and Ryleigh Johns had 4 assists.

The 8th graders hosts their next tournament game against the winner of SCC and Mechanicsburg on Thursday at 5 p.m.
