
WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty-Salem’s boys cross country team won the Max Evans Memorial at Ohio Caverns on Tuesday.
The boys finished with 68 points, well ahead of second-place Bellefontaine (125). Graham was 10th and Mechanicsburg was 14th.
WL-S senior standout Joey Adams won the event in 16:50, nearly a full minute better than second place.
Michael Conley (11th, 18:21), Nick Williams (13th, 18:28), Ross Kelley (16th, 18:42) and Charlie Williams (27th, 19:21) paced the Tigers.
Carter Callison (14th, 18:33) was the high finisher for Graham.
The WL-S girls also won, with Triad third and Mechanicsburg fifth.
Caylee Karg (5th, 22:13) and Reghan Bieleski (6th, 22:28) paced the Tigers, with Jenna Magnuson (10th, 23:13), Sarah Fowler (12th, 23:14) and Sarah Painter (18th, 23:54) also scoring.
Triad was led by Holly Cole (4th, 22:07), Alyssa Ferguson (16th, 23:29) and Alea Ferguson (23rd, 24:16). Summer Doty (32nd, 24:57) and Sandi Alspaugh (37th, 25:25) also scored.
Scoring for Mechanicsburg were Sophie Boeck (21st, 24:04), Michelle Auflick (24th, 24:18), Stephanie Dietrich (28th, 24:38), Abbey Kramer (30th, 24:53) and Emily Wilson (47th, 26:15).
Urbana tennis falls
Urbana lost to Xenia, 5-0, in non-league girls tennis.
At 1st singles, Haylee Johns lost to Aly Landis, 6-1, 6-2.
At 2nd singles, Morgan Lattimer lost to Savannh Puckett, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
At 3rd singles, Katie Asper lost to Peyton McClain, 6-1, 6-0.
Graham prevails in volleyball
Graham defeated Northwestern, 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16, in CBC/MRD volleyball.
For the Falcons, Lisa DeWeese had 16 kills and 6 aces, Carly Carafa added 14 kills and 1 ace and Katie Milligan added 5 kills and 5 aces.
The Falcons (9-3 overall, 4-1) hosts Kenton Ridge on Thursday.
Triad girls win in golf
CABLE – The Triad girls golf team defeated Greenon, 203-229, in non-league action on Tuesday. Triad was led by medalist Macy Linscott’s 42. Jess Woodard had a 51, Chasity Curton a 52, Sabrina Thompson a 58, Jen Pelfrey a 66 and Courtney Yutzy a 73.
UHS at Crew Stadium
The Urbana High School boys soccer team will be playing a game at Crew Stadium in Columbus on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Jayvee soccer
West Liberty-Salem tied Bellefontaine, 2-2, in jayvee girls soccer.
Peyton Kerns had two goals for the Tigers (1-1-2). Laura Neer had four saves in goal and Rachel McGill added five.
Jayvee cross country
West Liberty-Salem won the jayvee Ohio Caverns Invitational Tuesday.
Bryan Woods (1st, 19:34), Jordan Lewis (4th, 20:25), James Loffing (6th, 20:50), Konner Smith (7th, 20:51) and Tyler Louden (8th, 21:11) scored.
M’burg, WL-S rated in Region 22
In the first computer prep football playoff poll, Mechanicsburg (4-0) is rated second and WL-S (3-1) third in Division VI, Region 22.
The top eight teams in each region will advance to the playoffs and the top four will host a first-round game.
Junior high football
In 7th grade football, Bellefontaine beat Graham, 18-0. Standouts for Graham were Bryant Crisler, Daniel Davis, Riley Fritts and Ben Hillman.
