Early morning barn fire under investigation


QUINCY – An early morning fire destroyed a barn and is under investigation according to the Rosewood Fire Department.

Rosewood Fire Chief Steve Ford said firefighters were dispatched to 12662 Shanley Road around 5:33 a.m. Friday on a report of a barn fire. Ford said the fire was called in by a person who was driving by the residence.

No injuries were reported but Ford said the barn and contents inside were a total loss. A damage estimate was undetermined as of Friday afternoon. The cause of the fire was also unknown as of Friday afternoon.

The Quincy Fire Department also provided mutual aid.

According to the Champaign County Auditor’s website, the property is owned by James and Catherine Pullins.
