SPRINGFIELD – Mercy Health – Springfield announced that it is building a freestanding Emergency Department in Enon. The emergency department is the centerpiece of a new Mercy Health medical campus, which will open in Enon in the fourth quarter of 2019.

“Mercy Health’s new medical campus in Enon will help meet demand for quality health care services in an area that is currently under-served medically,” said Matt Caldwell, Chief Executive Officer and Senior Vice President, Mercy Health – Springfield. “It will also offer our community an alternative to the very busy emergency department we run at Springfield Regional Medical Center, which we anticipate will drive strong patient satisfaction at both locations.”

Mercy Health will develop at a 12-acre site on Dayton-Springfield Road, at exit 24 of I-675 for the facility. The initial phase of the $14 million project will include construction of an 11,000-square-foot emergency department with 10 exam rooms, lab and imaging center, including CT and MRI scanning capability as well as radiology and ultrasound services. The facility will be open 24 hours daily and there will be a helipad for patients needing immediate transfer to an appropriate facility after stabilization.

Mercy Health intends to offer a chest pain center to evaluate emergent cardiac care needs at the site, as well as a fast track sports medicine program for sports-related injuries. Other clinical services such as primary care, cardiology and specialty services will be available at Mercy Health’s medical office building in Enon, located at 240 Enon Ave.

Mercy Health could add further services at the medical campus site in the future, depending on patients’ needs.

Mercy Health expects to hold a site dedication and showcase its plans on the grounds in October 2018.
