An Eagle Court of Honor was held recently for Scout Mikey Meyer, of Urbana. Meyer represents the fourth generation of Scouts in the Meyer family, and the third generation of Eagle Scouts. His younger siblings are also involved in scouting.
The ceremony was held in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Urbana – long-time Chartering Organization for Troop 11.
Troop 11 is in the Bullskin Trail District of Tecumseh Council.. Participants in the ceremony were: Troop 11 Scouts in Presentation of the Colors, and “What the Scout Oath Means to Me,” and Evan Meyer, younger brother of the Eagle, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Scout Law.
Dr. Janet Ebert, adult member of the BSA Troop, performed patriotic songs at the piano and read “The Legend of Eagle Mountain.” The presentation of the Eagle Scout Badge was made by Mike Meyer and Tony Brown, Scoutmasters. Commissioner Bob Hemmerly of Tecumseh Council gave the Eagle Charge.
Master of Ceremonies for the event was David Greenlee, former Troop 11 Scoutmaster, present Assistant Scoutmaster, and himself a Troop 11 Eagle. In attendance was former Troop 11 Scoutmaster Jim Holcomb.
This is the second Troop 11 Scout Court of Honor this year. The Troop earlier celebrated Eagle Scout Kullen Lockwood, and will hold a Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Nickolas Pettit in October.
