West Liberty-Salem nipped Mechanicsburg, 173-174, in OHC boys golf on Monday. Caleb Westfall had a 35 and Mack Cushman shot a 38 for M’burg. Corey Bogan shot a 51, David McMahill had a 50, Jack Shoemaker carded a 51 and Austin Wolfe came in with a 59.

Tiger boys win Quest Cup
BELLEFONTAINE – The WL-S boys soccer team won its first two games of the season by winning the Quest Cup at Ben Logan over the weekend.
The team defeated Ben Logan, 4-0, Friday evening as Neil Markin scored 2 goals while Cole McDaniel and Raiph Levan each added one. McDaniel, Levan, Jacob VanHorn and Logan Cole each had 1 assist. Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski had just 2 saves in goal.
Saturday evening WL-S defeated Kenton in the championship match, 3-2.
The Tigers had 2 first half goals, 1 by Markin and 1 by McDaniel gave the Tigers the halftime lead, 2-0. Kenton scored 2 in the second half but WL-S put the game away with a Levan pass to set up a McDaniel score. On the game McDaniel had 2 goals while Markin had 1. Levan had 2 assists and Christian Parker had the other assist. Kirker-Napiorkowski had 7 saves in goal.
McDaniel, Markin, Levan, and Christian Parker were named to the all-tournament team.
WL-S tops UHS in soccer
West Liberty-Salem beat Urbana, 3-1, in non-league girls soccer.
Gabby Hollar, Lily Yoder and Peyton Kerns scored goals for the Tigers and Ashley Rabenstein and Annika Wolfe added assists.
Paige Shafer had 7 saves in goal for WL-S and Bell Clark added one.
WL-S (1-0) hosts Northeastern on Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Junior high volleyball
The WL-S 7th graders defeated Mechanicsburg, 25-17, 25-19. The Tigers were led in serving by Olivia Muirhead.
WL-S’s 8th graders defeated Mechanicsburg, 16-25, 25-13, 25-10. The Tigers were carried in the third set in serving by Kyndall Metz.
