The Champaign County Arts Council and its sponsors The Medicine Shoppe and MIXX165 are delighted to announce the Summer Kickoff Concert, a vibrant celebration of music and community, taking place at the scenic Melvin Miller Park in Urbana on Friday, June 14.

Prepare your palate for an adventure as some of the area’s favorite food trucks converge at Melvin Miller Park. Indulge in the flavors of Lobster Roll creations from The Naughty Lobstah, delicious BBQ dishes from Wilsons Rollin Shmoke, savor Bourbon Chicken, and treat the kids to refreshing treats from Kona Ice.

The evening’s entertainment promises to be equally delightful. Local talent Eleyet McConnell will kick off the festivities with their country-rock sound, showcasing a blend of passion and musical prowess. Coming off several award nods and newly released music, they are excited to kick off the summer season.

As the sun sets, prepare to be enchanted by the captivating performance of Honey and Blue, a dynamic songwriting duo hailing from Columbus, Ohio. With their blend of pop-infused soul, blues, and R&B, Honey and Blue will deliver a performance that resonates with audiences long after the final note fades away. Participate in welcoming their band to Champaign County.

To complement the musical experience, a selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase, allowing guests to unwind and savor the magic of the evening in style.

Admission to the Summer Kickoff Concert is free, with gates opening at 5 p.m. and music beginning at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for enjoying the performances.

Join us for an evening of music, food, and community as we come together to celebrate the arrival of summer at Melvin Miller Park. For more information, please visit or follow us on social media.
