The Champaign County Master Gardener Volunteers have awarded scholarships to Chris Harmison and Lori Smith for the training program that is scheduled to begin this month.

The program provides 50-plus hours of horticulture training. Certification is achieved upon completion of the training and labs and required volunteer hours.

Certified Master Gardener Volunteers work with County Extension personnel and provide services to the community through answering gardening questions, gardening activities with children, senior citizens, or disabled person, beautifying the community, developing community or demonstration gardens and much more. Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge but a desire to learn about gardening and share that information with the community.

If you are interested in becoming a Certified Master Gardener Volunteer and attending the training program starting this month, you may sign up at: https://mgvolunteers.osu.edu/volunteer-sign-up. In addition, you may contact the extension office at 937-484-1526, or send an email to Grant Davis (Extension Coordinator) at davis.1902 @osu.edu. for further information.
