Yellow Springs Street Fair slated for Oct. 14

YELLOW SPRINGS – The Yellow Springs Street Fair is coming up again on Oct. 14. Over 200 vendors will sell handmade arts and crafts and there will be an eclectic mix of food, two stages of music, a beer garden with domestic favorites and local craft beer, street performers, colorful clothing and smiling people.

The Soin Stage in the lawn of Jackson-Lytle-Lewis Life Celebration Center will offer mellow and “acoustic” acts, as well as a local belly dancing troupe, Egyptian Breeze. This stage will entertain from 9 a.m. when the festival starts, to 5 p.m. as tear-down starts.

Then, head to the John Bryan Community Center for more music with larger bands and craft beer until 7 p.m.

A variety of street musicians and performers will entertain throughout the event. People from all over the world attend the fair to share items they’ve made, songs or poems they know, a flow art they are trying to master, their juggling skills, or any number of things.

To get to the Street Fair more easily, use the free shuttle service from Young’s Dairy at 6800 Springfield-Xenia Road or Yellow Springs High School at 420 E. Enon Road. The shuttle service is available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check YellowSpringsOhio.org for alternate routes also. Or ride your bike and use the free Bike Miami Valley bike valet service at the corner of Dayton Street and U.S. Route 68, adjacent to the Beer Garden.

Street Fair is free and open to the public. Handicapped parking is available at the Municipal Lot on Corry Street. For the safety and comfort of all, Street Fair is a pet-free festival by ordinance, and pet owners will be asked to leave.
