Bengals go 6-9-1, yet Lewis still has a job

The Bengals had a terrible season after many pundits had predicted they would advance to the playoffs.

And yet, Marvin Lewis still has a job as head coach.

Apparently, he has a job for life in spite of the fact that he’s 0-7 in the playoffs.

It’s amazing that fans keep buying tickets, and that so many people are still fans at all.

It’s also amazing that Ohio State was shut out in last Saturday night’s College Football Playoff semifinal.

Actually, the 31-0 loss to Clemson wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate.

The Tigers dominated the Buckeyes at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Despite having a month to prepare, Ohio State’s offensive game plan was non-existent.

In the first half, Ohio State kept passing even though completions were rare.

Quarterback J.T. Barrett looked like he had no confidence in his receivers, and his receivers couldn’t get any separation from the defensive backs covering them.

Clemson stacked the line of scrimmage and dared the Buckeyes to pass, and they couldn’t.

It was the worst performance I can remember for an Ohio State team since the 2007 BCS national title game, a 41-14 loss to Florida.

After the Clemson debacle, OSU co-offensive coordinator Tim Beck was allowed to leave for a similar job at Texas earlier this week, and OSU Coach Urban Meyer may need to make even more changes to his offensive coaching staff.

Mike Simpson was deftly able to blend his artistic talents with his love of sports history.

Simpson, who died last week at the age of 76, loved to feature college and pro football legends in his art work, and several of his pieces have been on display at the College Football Hall of Fame.

Trivia Time – New England’s Bill Belichick is currently the longest-tenured head coach in the NFL.

This week’s question – Which former Ohio State assistant football coach is currently the head coach at Texas?
