UU hosts talk on relieving stress with music

Urbana University Performing Arts will host Tess Homier, asocial worker, therapist and assistant professor of social work at Defiance College, at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, in the Urbana University Library. She will discuss how music, deep breathing and other techniques can lower stress during final exam week. The program is titled “Drop the Bass, not Your Grades: Music and other Relaxation Skills for a Less Stressful Finals Week.”

The interim director for the Defiance College Social Work program, Homier holds degrees from Bluffton University and The Ohio State University. Since completion of her Masters degree, she has worked in private and several community mental health practices. Her experience includes working as a therapist in foster care, and specializations are children and teenagers.
