DAR honors veterans


The Urbana Chapter DAR met Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Airport Café for lunch at noon for the DAR Day of Service. DAR members brought a veteran to lunch and paid for their meal.

Regent Pat Detwiler greeted everyone and led members and guests in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Star Spangled Banner and The American’s Creed. She also read a short article of the DAR’s purpose.

Members and guests (in parenthesis): Associate member, Robin Rose (Don Rose, her husband); Lisa Buirley (Mike Brown); Kathy Detwiler (Mike Wallace); Cheryl Walter (Jim Bartlett); Betty Driever (Lou Driever, husband and Morgan Driever, grandson); Dona Tullis; Judi Henson (Gene Baker); Margaret Denzer (Jim Barnhart); Becky Shultz, (Brooks Shultz, her son); Mary Pollock (Robert Pollock, her son); Judy Brooks & Lana Seeberg (Carl Angles, their brother, Bill Cromwell & Tony Markin, their brothers-in-law); Pat Detwiler (Buzzy Moore, Veterans Affairs Coordinator, and Lavante & Ashley Calhoun).

After the meal each DAR member introduced their guest and then that person told a little something about their service.

Regent Detwiler thanked the veterans for their service and for attending.
