Mechanicsburg’s Caleb Westfall will compete at the Division III state golf tournament in Sunbury beginning Friday at NorthStar Golf Club.
Westfall will compete as an individual in the two-day event after winning the district tournament last week at Beavercreek. He shot 1-under-par 71 to earn the victory over Fort Loramie’s Brad Gottemoeller and his even-par 72.
Westfall has been a steady contributor for the Indians since coming in as a freshman.
As a freshman, he finished 39th at the district tournament with an 89. Since then, it’s been steady improvement, even leading the Indians to state last season as a sophomore.
He shot an 82 and an 83, tying for 18th. No other teammate mustered better than a 197 over two days.
Westfall has also earned All-OHC recognition and numerous medalist honors this season. He shot an 80 at the Ohio Heritage Conference tournament and 79 at the sectional tournament at Beechwood Golf Course – good enough for third.
