Westfall wins district tourney

BEAVERCREEK – Mechanicsburg’s Caleb Westfall won with a 1-under-par 71 and the Indians finished 7th overall with a 359 at the Division III district golf tournament at Beavercreek Golf Club on Thursday.

Seven Hills, playing alongside the Indians, won the tournament with a 323. Country Day (331), Catholic Central (336), Cincinnati Christian (340), Fort Loramie (342) and Fairlawn (351) all fared better than M’burg in the team competition.

But the day belonged to Westfall, who posted the only sub-par round and edged out Fort Loramie’s Brad Gottemoeller (72) for medalist honors. Both will play in the state tournament as individuals.

Also for Mechanicsburg, Corey Bogan shot an 88 and finished in 32nd place. Keane Dunn (53rd, 96), David McMahill (64th, 104) and Jack Shoemaker (67th, 108) all competed.

Graham wins in volleyball

Graham defeated Indian Lake, 25-14, 25-21, 25-10, in CBC volleyball on Thursday.

For the Falcons (13-6, 8-3), Kaitlin Trace had 18 kills, Molly Hamilton had 31 assists and Claire Comer added 14 digs.

Tigers fall to Irish

West Liberty-Salem lost to Springfield Catholic Central, 25-23, 25-13, 25-18, in OHC volleyball.

Tory Cordell had 11 kills, 5 digs and 2 blocks, Kaylee Harrison had 6 kills and 3 digs, Alex Burton had 5 kills and 12 digs, Regan Hormann had 3 kills, Olivia Ames had 18 digs and Allie Yoder had 17 assists and 7 digs for the Tigers.

The WL-S jayvees lost 18-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Jaelen Meeker had 20 assists and 8 digs, Lexi Mullen had 7 kills and 2 blocks, Kaitlyn Chamberlain had 6 kills, Cukki Kabua had 11 digs, Abby Dillon had 12 digs and Kennah Erwin had 4 kills for the Tigers.

M’burg prevails in soccer

Mechanicsburg beat Southeastern, 5-1, in OHC girls soccer on Thursday.

Junior captain Tori Jacobs had 5 goals scored and 6 additional shots.

Gabby Terry and Meagan Hux each had one assist.

Keeper Morgan Hamby had 4 saves for the Indians (8-5-1).

JH volleyball

The WL-S 8th grade volleyball team defeated visiting Triad, 25-13, 25-15. For the Tigers, Olivia Muirhead led the offense with 10 aces and Selena Weaver had three kills.
