Urbana girls blank Raiders

Urbana defeated Ben Logan, 7-0, in CBC girls soccer on Monday.

In the first period, Urbana had a goal by Sam Tracy assisted by Taje Mack at 30:30; another goal by Tracy assisted by Mack and Marissa Horn 28:40 and a Urbana Goal by Marissa Horn at 22:00.

In the second period, Urbana had a goal by Mack assisted by Horn at 34:05; a goal by Breanna Titus assisted by Cassie James at 22:56; a goal by Zhoe Evans assisted by Madisyn Horn at 21:01 and another goal by Evans assisted by Madisyn Horn at 18:05.

“We played really well tonight,” said UHS Coach Brandon Deskins. “The defense really locked things down and in the second half we really moved the ball well creating opportunities that we took advantage of. I’m proud of the teamwork we had tonight.

Urbana is now 4-5 overall and plays on Wednesday at Indian Lake.

UHS tennis prevails

Urbana defeated Bellefontaine,, 3-2, in CBC girls tennis.

At 1st singles, Haylee Johns lost, 6-2. 2-6, 1-6.

At 2nd singles, Morgan Lattimer lost, 6-3, 6-2.

At 3rd singles, Katie Asper won, 6-2, 6-3.

At 1st doubles, Olivia Krieger/Bri Ussher won, 6-0, 6-1.

At 2nd doubles, Rachel Pickering and Kim Asper won, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.

Tigers top Falcons

West Liberty-Salem defeated Graham 6-2 in boys soccer over the weekend.

Neil Markin scored 3 goals to lead the Tigers. Raiph Levan and Bishop Williamson each recorded a goal and an assist, while Mason Woodruff and Christian Parker each had an assist. Graham scored an own goal to round out the WL-S total.

WL-S (5-3) plays at Greeneview on Thursday.

UHS boys golf wins

The Urbana boys golf team finished the regular season with wins over Kenton Ridge, 185-192, and Tecumseh, 185-187.

For UHS (2-10), William McDavid had a 38, Ethan Headlee a 49, Taylor Armstrong a 50, Cole Headlee a 53, Gabe Johnson a 48 and Reid Taylor a 51. Urbana plays in the CBC championship on Thursday.

Indians fall in golf

The Mechanicsburg boys golf team lost to Catholic Central, 179-183, in OHC action.

Caleb Westfall shot 41 to earn co-medalist honors. Corey Bogan shot 44, Keane Dunn had a 47, Jack Shoemaker carded a 51, David McMahill shot a 60 and Bradley Butsch added a 65.

MHS (28-7, 8-3 OHC) hosts Triad on Tuesday.

JH volleyball

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade volleyball team beat Triad, 25-11, 20-25, 25-10.

For WL-S, Olivia Muirhead and Emily Scott each had 6 aces, Emily Bolton had 5 aces and Hannah Jones had 3 aces. Selena Weaver had 3 kills and Muirhead had 2 kills and 2 assists. Madeline Hutton had 4 assists.

The Graham 8th grade volleyball team beat Indian Lake, 28-26, 25-19, to improve to 6-3 overall.
