The Cincinnati Bengals were very fortunate to pull out a season-opening 23-22 win over the New York Jets last Sunday.
Teams that give up 152 rushing yards and allow seven sacks generally don’t win, but quarterback Andy Dalton persevered and had a very good day.
Dalton completed 23 of 30 pass attempts for 366 yards, and receiver A.J. Green had a field day, catching 12 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown.
The victory over the Jets was the first for the Bengals in 10 meetings in New Jersey.
This Sunday, the Bengals face an early-season showdown in Pittsburgh.
Cincy’s offensive line and run defense both need to get a whole lot better by then.

The Cleveland Browns just can’t catch a break.
Before they could find out if RG3 was the answer at quarterback, he broke a bone in his left shoulder in a season-opening loss to the Eagles and will miss at least the next two months.
He didn’t look good in the game before the injury … in fact, he looked like the same RG3 who was benched by the Redskins.
This Sunday, the Browns will set a dubious record by becoming the first NFL team to use more than one starting quarterback in 15 consecutive seasons.

Long-time Urbana University public address announcer Roger Wilson proved he is a real trouper by waiting out the four-hour lightning delay during last Saturday’s UU-West Virginia State football game.
He hung in there in the press box until the game – which began at 1 p.m. – finally ended at almost 8 p.m.

Trivia Time – The last time the Cleveland Browns had a winning record was in 2007 (10-6).
This week’s question – Where did RG3 play college football?
