It’s time again for CRSI’s ninth annual One Stop Health Fair coming Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m. The CRSI event is a free community service and is open to the public.

Free information will be abundant on topics benefiting the entire family. There will be free chair massages and reflexology demos. Mayor Bill Bean and his Sous Chef, Audra, will be demonstrating how to grill delicious and healthy vegetables, fruits and fish. Samples will be available for tasting. Be sure to stop by and meet Dr. Surender Neravetla, author of “Salt Kills.”

There will be free screenings and evaluations such as glaucoma, blood pressure, glucose, grip assessment, bone density, dermascan, spinal evaluation, cholesterol screening, caries risk assessment and much more. The Champaign County Safety Council will be sponsoring three different evaluations, saving fairgoers a fee for these services. There will be a visual skin check by Dr. Thomas Rak and an ABI (Ankle Brachial Index) by Springfield Heart Surgeons along with foot screenings given by Dr. Melitta Simmons from Complete Foot and Ankle Specialist.

Admission and information, screenings and evaluations are free. However, the seasonal flu vaccine and pneumonia vaccine offered by The Medicine Shoppe has a fee and most insurance plans are accepted. The Kroger Pharmacy will also be offering the shingles vaccine and the tetanus vaccine for a fee. Most insurance plans are accepted.

In addition to vendor door prizes at each vendor table, CRSI is offering a grand prize drawing for a $500 Visa gift card.

The One Stop Health Fair is located inside the CRSI annex building accessed from East U.S. Route 36, directly behind the main office complex that faces Scioto Street. Hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 7 only. Additional parking is being made possible by Trenor Motors.
