Serve A Soldier 5K registration begins Saturday

Registration for the Serve A Soldier 5K walk and run, to be held Saturday, Sept. 3, in Urbana, will open Saturday, May 21, with a one-day discounted fee in observance of Armed Forces Day.

Individuals and teams of four can register for the event at keysports.net. On May 21, the registration fee will be $25 for individuals and $80 for teams of four. Fees will be $30 and $100, May 22 through July 31; $35 and $115, Aug. 1 through Aug. 23; and $40 and $130, after Aug. 23. Those registering after Aug. 23 will not be guaranteed a T-shirt.

The Serve A Soldier 5K, which will start at 8:15 a.m. at the Champaign Family YMCA in Urbana, will benefit Point Man Ministries, an interdenominational mission that refers veterans and their families to needed services. Proceeds also will support projects that benefit local veterans.

Serve a Soldier is organized by the Urbana United Methodist Church.
