Triad earns baseball sweep over North Union

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad swept North Union, 16-11 and 12-2, in non-league baseball on Saturday.

In the first game, the visitors put up 10 runs in the first inning, but Triad battled back with multiple runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to claim victory.

For Triad, Dalton Holycross had a double and 2 RBI, Dustin Bruce had 3 RBI, Trent McIntyre was 2-for-4 with a double, Trevor Instine was 2-for-4 and Tim Marsalis was 2-for-5.

Also for Triad, Shane Ford was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Alec Ober was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Derek McCall scored 6 runs.

In the second game, Instine was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Marsalis had 2 RBI, Isaiah Bruce had 2 RBI and Shem Pond was 2-for-4.

Triad (9-2) hosts Northeastern today.

Hillclimbers win in baseball

Urbana defeated West Jefferson, 3-1, in non-league baseball on Saturday.

Seth Mangus was 2-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI to power Urbana. Dillon Watkins was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Caleb Peterson was 1-for-3 and Trenton Dunham was 1-for-3.

The Hillclimbers’ game from Friday versus Graham will be finished on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Graham. The teams had to postpone the finish due to darkness, with the score tied 18-18.

Tigers top Falcons in softball

West Liberty-Salem swept Graham, 4-0 and 8-2, in non-league softball on Saturday.

In the first game for WL-S, Hallie Strapp was 1-for-2 with a 3-run home run.

For Graham, Mallory Roberts, Allison Neeld and Mackenzie Smith were each 1-for-3.

In the second game, Grace Woodruff was 2-for-3, Kelsey Day was 2-for-4 with a double, Kiana Reames was 2-for-4, Dierdre McGill was 2-for-3 with a double and Strapp was 2-for-4.

For Graham, Melany Robbins, Mallory Roberts, Adrianna Hicks and Mackenzie Smith were each 1-for-3.

Graham won the jayvee games, 11-10 and 12-4.

For the Tigers in game one, Laura Neer had 4 hits with a double and a triple. Erica McCall, Laine Godwin, Maddie Estes and Shea Teets each had 2 hits.

In the second game, Olivia Milliron had 3 hits and 2 RBI. Abby Dillon, Maddie Estes, Laura Neer and Tory Cordell all had 2 hits. Estes and Neer doubled, while Cordell had a triple.

Tigers prevail over Falcons in baseball

West Liberty-Salem swept Graham, 8-5 and 15-2, in non-league baseball on Saturday.

In the first game for WL-S, Dillon Callicoat was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI. Chase Humphries also doubled.

In the second game, Brandon Upton was 3-for-4 with 5 RBI and Trevor Burden was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

WL-S (6-5, 3-3 OHC) host Southeastern on Tuesday.

Triad softball goes 1-2

Triad lost games to Northwestern, 9-5, and River Valley, 11-5, on Saturday. The Cardinals then beat Milton-Union, 9-2.

Against Northwestern for THS, Madison Dolby was 3-for-4 and Abby Ehrenborg was 2-for-4.

Against River Valley, Jenna Ober was 3-for-4 and Ehrenborg hit a home run and drove in three runs.

Against Milton-Union, Ehrenborg was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, Dolby was 3-for-4, Ober was 2-for-3 and Ali Dixon was 2-for-4.

Triad (7-3) hosts Northeastern on Monday.

Mechanicsburg stomps YS

Mechanicsburg swept Yellow Springs, 29-1 and 13-3, in non-league baseball on Saturday.

In the first game for the Indians, Caleb Newsome was 5-for-6 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI, Colton McMannis was 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, Corey Bogan was 4-for-6 with a double and 4 RBI and Jake Bowers was 3-for-5 with an RBI.

In the second game, Newsome was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, Keane Dunne was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Bowers was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI.

“The boys are swinging really well right now,” M’burg Coach Bryan Eyink said.

Mechanicsburg improves to 8-2 on the season.
