West Liberty plans bicentennial

WEST LIBERTY – The West Liberty Bicentennial Committee held an Easter Goodies Bake Sale on Saturday, March 26 in front of The Trumpet Vine Gift Shop. The committee is raising funds needed for the village’s Bicentennial Celebration to be held July 6-9, 2017.

Many in Logan and Champaign County call West Liberty home – as do those who still hold the town close to their hearts but live elsewhere – and are preparing to celebrate 200 years since the town was established in 1817. The area was originally called “Smiling Valley” by the Shawnee Nation with villages in the surrounding area. West Liberty has grown through faith, family, farming and community!

Those who would like to join the committee in the Bicentennial Celebration preparations are invited to join the Facebook group, West Liberty Bicentennial Celebration July 6-9, 2017. Meetings can be attended on the last Tuesday of each month at the Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. To donate to the Bicentennial Celebration Fund, please go to Peoples Savings and Loan in West Liberty.
