WL-S announces spring sports award recipients

Recently, West Liberty-Salem High School hosted its annual Winter Athletic Awards Ceremonies.

Among the many athletes honored, there were many outstanding accomplishments.

In boys basketball, Ross Kelley received a 4 year participation, highest free throw and Honorable Mention. Austin Miller and Kannon Stillings received a 3 year letter plaque, Co MVPs, and 1st Team All Conference. Neil Markin got the Defensive award. Dillon Callicoat got the Hustle award. Tyler Jones got JV Hustle award. Oliver McGuire got Freshman Hustle award.

In girls basketball, Jamie Peterson, received a 4 year participation and a 4 year letter plaque, Player of the Year and 1st Team All Conference. Isabella Clark and Maddie Oelker also received a 4 year participation plaque with Maddie getting a 3 year letter plaque and Scholar Athlete. Lilly Yoder got 2nd Team All Conference. Mikalia McIntosh got an Honorable Mention along with a 3 year letter plaque.

In wrestling, Tanner Workman received a 3 year letter plaque and MVP. Eli Serna got most improved. Charlie Williams got Varsity Hustle.

In cheerleading a 3 year letter and a 4 year participation plaques were awarded to Blake Cupps and Anna Buck. Anna also received Scholar Athlete and All around Cheer. Taylor LeVan received Varsity Hustle. Most Improved went to Kelli Roach. JV most improved was Jenna Magnuson. McKenna Floyd got JV Hustle and Cheer coach award.

In bowling, 4 year letters and participation plaques went to Brad Burt and Gage Rudasill with Brad also being the Scholar Athlete and Gage having the highest average. Sportsmanship award was giving to Reese Shafer. Michael Price got varsity hustle. Three year letter plaques were given to Taylor Loverde and Erica Mccall with Taylor getting varsity hustle and Erica having highest average. Sarah Daulton was scholar athlete. The sportsmanship award was given to Lauren Hostetler.

WL-S seeks coach

West Liberty-Salem is in need of a high school varsity volleyball coach for the 2016-17 season. Interested persons should contact Jake Vitt at (937) 465-1149 or [email protected]. Applications can be picked up in the central office.

Volleyball registration

Champaign Family YMCA is currently registering for Spring Volleyball Mini-Season that will run from April 19-May 14.

This league is for all children 3rd-6th grade and registration will run until April 9. For more information, please call Greg at the YMCA at (937) 653-9622.
