OSU Extension plans Perennial Flower School

SPRINGFIELD – The 17th annual Central Ohio Perennial Flower School will be 9 a.m.-4:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center, 275 S. Limestone St., Springfield. The program is sponsored by Ohio State University Extension Clark County.

The day includes colorful, fanciful and practical gardening topics. See and learn about eye-popping attention-getting plants, ground covers and spring bulbs.

The event will feature some of the best in the business. Irvin Etienne is the Horticultural Display coordinator and award-winning blogger at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. His presentations are “Carmen Miranda in the Midwest” and “Thug-a-licious (When Bad Plants Go Good).

Laura Burchfield, owner of HRH Landscape Ltd, Circleville, will talk about “Perennial Color Throughout the Seasons.” Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp, the Hoosier Gardener, Indianapolis, will present “Gotcha Covered: More than Ivy and Myrtle” and “Spring Bulbs and Companions.”

Deadline for registration is Feb. 24. The cost is $70. Register on-line at go.osu.edu/regperennialschool or find more program information and download the registration form at go.osu.edu/perennialschool and mail check and form to OSU Extension. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for check-in.
