West Liberty-Salem girls knock off Trojans

WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty-Salem defeated Southeastern, 58-31, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

Jamie Peterson scored 22 points and Lily Yoder had 11 for the Tigers.

The jayvee Tigers won 43-15. Isabella Clark had 9 points, while Kiana Reames and Peyton Kerns each added 6 for WL-S.

The Tigers play at Kenton Ridge tonight.

M’burg girls prevail

MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg defeated Catholic Central, 57-36, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

The Indians opened up a 17-4 lead after a quarter and pushed it to 29-10 at halftime.

Mikayla Dodane had 22 points and Elly Schipfer scored 15 for the Indians.

M’burg plays at West Jefferson on Tuesday.

Graham girls lose

Newton beat Graham, 59-40, in non-league girls basketball on Saturday.

For the Falcons (6-15), Kari Smith had 17 points.

Graham won the jayvee game, 34-26. Madi Vanscoy had 8 points for GHS.

Indian boys fall

MECHANICSBURG – Riverside defeated Mechanicsburg, 43-39, in non-league boys basketball on Saturday.

The Indians led the close contest 32-28 after three quarters, having battled back from a 24-22 deficit at halftime.

David Harvey and Chris Taylor each scored 8 points for the Indians.

Riverside also won the jayvee game, 56-28.

Billy Muterspaw scored 11 points for M’burg and Joey Mascadri added 9.

Mechanicsburg plays at Graham on Tuesday.

Junior high basketball

Graham’s 7th grade boys basketball team defeated Urbana, 43-25.

The WL-S 7th grade boys beat Greeneview, 38-33, to claim the OHC tourney title. Isaiah McGill scored 12 points, with Nick Burden scoring 9.

The WL-S 8th grade boys beat Triad, 55-28, to win the OHC. Ethan Cole had 15 points for the Tigers, with Ethan Larson scoring 9.
